Book of the Week 6/3/13

Have an incorrigible cat? Perhaps this week’s book can offer some help to keep your sanity while offering insight on being a good feline parent. Jackson Galaxy of Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell offers some great advice in his acclaimed book Cat Daddy: What the World’s Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love, and Coming Clean (Tarcher, 2012).

Cat Daddy is a blend of memoir and cat advice, but is far from ordinary in either aspect. From drug addicted musician to well-known cat behaviorist (to think I used to make jokes about how there should be cat psychiatrists!). Galaxy does an excellent job of taking things into perspectives of the mysterious feline’s world while sharing his own story of overcoming personal demons.

This is a book that will help cat owners understand their own “house tigers” (as I like to call mine) in a new light while giving practical advice on dealing with not-so-desirable cat behaviors. Cat Daddy is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and revealing, something many self-help (or in this case, pet help) books don’t offer often. Cat Daddy is a must-read for every cat owner or fancier, and offers tips for a healthy, happy cat.

This book makes a great Father’s Day gift for all cat daddies dealing with a four-legged hellion of their own.
