Simon & Schuster Snags ‘Weekends With Daisy’ Deal

 

Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books imprint has picked up world English publication rights to the prision dog training memoir Weekends With Daisy. CBS Films acquired film rights to the book on November 10.  Both deals emerged from nearly 30 sample pages of a detailed proposal.

Fairbank Literary agent Sorche Elizabeth Fairbank was representative for the sale of publication rights. The deal closing for Gallery was overseen by Jen Bergstrom and Abby Zidle, and Zidle editing.

Simon & Schuster representives The Gotham Group handled the film rights deal on behalf on Fairbank, with Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie of the Donners Company developing and producing the film project.

Weekends With Daisy is a nonfiction book written by journalist Sharron Kahn Luttrell, which describes relationships she formed with a service dog she began training on weekends and the inmate who was training the Labrador puppy during the week as part of a prison program.
