With the holidays only weeks away and many of us struggling in a tough economy, it’s not uncommon to have concerns about spending less, saving more, and avoid falling into pitfalls of being ripped off.
HLN television host and consumer expert Clark Howard shares our concerns and offers his expertise in his latest book, Clark Howard’s Living Large in Lean Times: 250+ Ways to Buy Smarter, Spend Smarter, and Save Money (Avery Trade, 2011). The book contains mostly common sense (cents?) advice, along with some new ideas some may have never considered before delving into several chapters
Many of the top concerns are covered in Living Large in Lean Times: prescriptions, insurance, mortgage/rent, utilities, and even cell phones. Other insights from Clark Howard worth reading are topics on identity theft and consumer fraud, two major issues which have come into the consumer spotlight over the last several years.
While of Living Large in Lean Times is a useful book, what I especially liked about it is not only did it offer excellent, up-to-date advice, but also in an easy to read, non-condescending, non-preachy manner many publications aimed toward consumer advice tend to fall.
Once you’ve read Living Large in Lean Times, Clark Howard’s money-saving tips don’t end there. You can find yet more ideas on his excellent yet useful web site, clarkhoward.com.
Who doesn’t want to save a little extra cash, especially for the holidays?
